about

Kareeta rose from the swamps and southern delta heat during the uncertain spring of 2020. Emerging as a fully formed amalgamation of the music that shaped its core. The band settled out west in California and recorded its debut LP with producer and musician Greg Loiacono at the controls. The music is an all-night drive pushing you deeper into the dial with broken characters and stories of red sky redemption silhouetting every ache.

lyrics

Where the plows would break the ground with the fires of dawn
There’d be Elvis and the Bible on the way up to the barn
We’d learn to pull the weeds and all forgiveness from the day
And my daddy broke his back for a farmer’s pay

When a man ain’t worn a collared shirt in damn near 15 years
He ain’t heading for the hills the first loud pop he hears
So mister tonight remember I was raised up in that dirt
Where we can’t count no buttons on our shirt

They did more than they could so we had enough
My momma worked the rows and my big sister drove the truck
And in our delta-dyed white shirts we’d praise the fading day
With our family crest of blood and sweat and hay

When a man ain’t worn a collared shirt in damn near 15 years
He ain’t headed for the hills the first loud pop he hears
So mister tonight remember I was raised up in that dirt
Where we can’t count no buttons on our shirt

Rain don’t flood
Just feed the fields and feed the land where my granddaddy was
So mister tonight remember I was raised up in that dirt
Where we don’t count no buttons on our shirt

When a man ain’t worn a collared shirt in damn near 15 years
He ain’t headed for the hills the first loud pop he hears
So mister tonight remember I was raised up in that dirt
Where we don’t count no buttons on our shirt
